Buying European Tilt and Turn Windows in the USA: How Ordering Works
Real European tilt and turn windows used to be hard to find in the U.S. That has changed, but buying them is still a different process from picking windows off the shelf at a big box store. Here is how buying from us works, step by step, so you know what to expect before you ask for a quote.
Step 1: Send us your sizes or drawings
Every window we supply is made to measure, so there is no fixed price list. The quote is built from your sizes, the material, the glass and the opening type of each sash. You can send us:
Architectural drawings or a window schedule.
A simple list of rough openings with the type of window you want.
Photos and measurements of the windows you want to replace.
If you are not sure which material fits, start with our overview of uPVC, aluminum and wood windows.
Step 2: Get your quote within 48 hours
We usually send a detailed quote within 48 hours. It lists every unit with its size, opening type, glass and performance data, so you or your architect can check it line by line. Questions and changes at this stage are normal, and the first version often isn't the final one.
Step 3: Confirm the order and the payment schedule
Our standard payment terms are 60/30/10:
60% deposit to start manufacturing.
30% before shipment. When the windows arrive at our fulfillment center, we send you photos of your order and ask for this payment before the goods leave the warehouse.
10% after delivery, once you are happy with what arrived.
We accept wire transfers and credit cards. Card payments may carry an extra transaction fee.
Step 4: Manufacturing in Europe
Your windows are built in Austria, Germany or Poland, depending on the product line, under the supervision of our headquarters in Prague. Before shipping, every order goes through an inspection at our fulfillment center to check sizes and finishes.
Step 5: Shipping and lead times
How long it takes depends mostly on the material and on whether we ship by air or by sea:
White uPVC windows by air: from about 3 weeks.
Standard uPVC windows by ocean freight: about 6 to 9 weeks.
Aluminum windows by ocean freight: about 8 to 12 weeks.
Special and custom orders: up to 16 weeks.
Accessories and spare parts ship by air, so you are not left waiting months for a missing handle.
What comes with each window
Standard glass is Low-E double pane with argon fill and a black Swisspacer warm-edge spacer. Triple pane and many special glass types are available. Each tilt and turn window also comes with micro-ventilation, a security handle, covers for the hinges and weather caps on the drainage holes.
On request we add an installation package with nailing fins, screws, waterproof tape, low-expansion foam and shims. We also supply sills, insect screens, blinds and lockable handles.
Step 6: Installation
Any experienced installation crew can handle our windows. Depending on the system, they go in with mounting straps from the inside, with a nailing flange from the outside or through the frame. Our installation manuals walk through each method, and we are happy to talk your installer through the details before the windows arrive.
Warranty
Products installed in the U.S. are covered by a transferable limited warranty: 10 years on frames and other components and 20 years on standard glass. You can read the full terms on our warranty page.
